Filippo Lilloni was born in Parma in 1971, started painting at 16, got a PHD in literature at UFBA (universidade federal da Bahia) and a diploma at the UCLA film and television program (university of California, Los Angeles).
After a few years in Brazil as a resercher in the antropology field decides to shoot his first shorts film and arts film.
Between 2002 and 2003 shoots two art film in the north est of the brazilian sertao: Triagem (The third path) a simbolic path throght the biography and the music of a brazialian artist. Born from a slave family Mestre Pedro da Bahia lead us to the roots of Africa. His trip ends in Itaparica where he meets his old father Xibare after he had disappeard for15 years.
Rondonia: mith, crises and ribirth of the deep forest indigenous people of Rondonia. A reportage upon the “garimpos”(miners) and devastation of the amazonian forests (documentary shooted for FUNAI, fundacao nacional dos indios).
In 2001 decided to shoot an indipendent -cinema veritè- documentary in Hong Kong throught the drama of a (cinese) young girl and Istiaq Khan (a 24 year old Pakistan boy) called HK tale taht won the first prize at the 2003 Festival dei popoli in Florence.

In 2004/2005 gets back to Brasil where he shots three documentaries:
Filho do boto, Circo marimbondo, e Cavalho marino.
In the first he traces an hipnotic trip trought the limits of the interspecies comunication between man and the pink amazon dolphin.
In the second... a close perspective of a poor circus that was travelling between march and april 2005 in the Pernambuco desert.
The third is a folk dance of the old slaves of Pernambuco of the sugar cane period.
